Room to work and play

Wochna McintoshSpace. That was the central theme in Matt Wochna and Suki McIntosh’s home search. Both Matt & Suki work from home, so they needed plenty of space to spread out and work. They love to entertain large groups, so they wanted lots of room to play. They enjoy the outdoors, so they were looking for a home with a little more land. And on top of that, they wanted to find a community with lower taxes.

"…in the end, we got a better value than buying an existing home and at a lower rate."

Though the couple didn’t expect to be able to afford a new build home, they stopped by the sales office at Vinmar Farms to check it out. After the sales team pulled together some numbers, Matt & Suki were surprised. “…in the end, we got a better value than buying an existing home and at a lower rate.”

Matt & Suki’s requirements included having an office space that could be closed off from the rest of the house when the work day ended. They wanted to ‘leave’ work at the end of the day and ‘go home’. They wanted a master bedroom a bit apart from the guest rooms. And they loved the idea of a front porch. They found several homes in Dominion’s Tradition Collection that met their needs. “The Tradition Collection had standard and upgrade features that we have come to really love such as granite counters in the bathrooms, hardwood floors, high ceilings and TONS of hot water from the two tanks!”

While Matt and Suki selected the Tradition Collection home that best suited their lifestyle, it is the subdivision that has really exceeded their expectations. They love all of the green space and the feeling of being in a cozy neighborhood without being on top of their neighbors. They take full advantage of the biking/walking path and the nearby parkland. Though they feel like they’re in a country setting, they love being close to the things that make life easier – plenty of shopping, entertainment, golfing and restaurants.

During those rare times when Matt and Suki aren’t working, they spend most of their time in their big family room and the spacious kitchen. “Gotta love all that counter space!”

When asked to pick one thing above all others they love about their home, Matt & Suki replied, “Just one??? In the winter, it’s the swimming pool we call the bathtub in the master bath. Coming home to a warm bath when it’s chilly and wet is a treat – and the bonus is that there’s still hot water when the thing is done filling up! In the summer it has to be all the amenities that the community offers. And when we’re done enjoying the bike path, the neighborhood happy hour on the green, or a walk to the lake we love to relax in our family room!”
